WINNING ART WORKS BY NORTHERN IRELAND STUDENTS GO ON EXHIBITION AT ULSTER MUSEUM

Belfast’s Ulster Museum is to be the venue for an exhibition of 126 winning paintings from this year’s 61st Texaco Children’s Art competition in which thirteen works by Northern Ireland students feature.

The opening ceremony, to which this year's winning artists have been invited, will take place at 12 noon on Thursday, 12th November next with guest of honour, renowned Co. Down artist Jayne Cherry.

Top Northern Ireland prize winners whose artworks feature in the exhibition are Oliwia Widuto (16), from Loreto College, Coleraine, (2nd prize, Category A) for her work entitled ‘Gramps on Morphine’; Ethan Cheung (13), from Bangor Grammar School, (3rd prize, Category C) for his pencil sketch entitled ‘Portrait of my Dad’; Ciara Ward (5), from St. Malachy's Primary School, Castlewellan, (winner, Category F) for her artwork entitled ‘Fabulous Flowers’ and Connor Marley (16), a pupil at St. Gerard’s School and Support Services, Belfast, (winner, Category G) for his work entitled ‘Natural Close Up’. Of the thirteen works by Northern Ireland students, six are from Antrim, six from Down and one is from Derry.

The exhibition will remain open to the public each day from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm until Sunday 3rd January next. Admission is free and further details can be found on the Ulster Museum website - www.nmni.com/um
